A Shared Bias Towards Pattern Recognition
While the analysis was not an analogue that is perfect gambling, as the monkeys did not need to risk any such thing to earn their rewards, it still made it clear that their brains have a similar tendency as human beings to get patterns, even though you will find none. Researchers believe that this is probably tied into how primate minds developed to get food into the wild, a tremendously process that is non-random which pattern recognition is key.
